I first saw this at a drive in theater with my Grandparents. I was so scared I spent the entire time hiding in the backseat, peeking around the headrest.

I remember this movie VERY well, and I'm kind of amazed your grandparents thought this was a good idea. hah!

I'd like to know who the voiceover guy is.

He's NOT the guy who did, for example, Escape from New York (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckvDo2JHB7o). I've seen that guy; one of the few and far between funny segments of recent Saturday Night Live had him, the guy himself, doing what you'd have to call amplified, dramatic narration of some thirteen-year-old ditz-bunny's telephone call to her best friend.

This guy, though, is just as well-known from the period.

I believe it's Hal Douglas.

I do wish there were an IMDB-type directory for these sorts of things, however... These voices have been ubiquitous over the years, but, aside from LaFontaine and his "Geico" days, we rarely get to know the people behind them.

Regardless of the symbolism in the movie, I have been wanting a huge amethyst geode ever since I first saw this.

I must've blocked most of this movie out as impressionable youth, but I'll always keep flashing back to the eyeball in the kid's hand... Uuugh.
