I love them! Esp. the bright cheery colors - so often today all you see are drab, dull, beige-related things that just make a bathroom boring. And the gift packaging makes them extra-cheerful.
What a world we live in, where everything's encased in plastic plastic blister packs or baggies, boring boring! About the only thing I've gotten recently that was packaged in decorative cardboard was a wig a few years ago, in a cute red box. Now most of them are in plastic zipper bags-- which may be cheaper and keep moisture out but it's ugly, smells nasty and doesn't keep the light out.
You also have to keep in mind that stuff didn't have to be schlepped across the Pacific ocean back then like it does now so we pretty much need the plastic. The shipping containers keep the light out, though.

Date: 2010-12-24 02:37 am (UTC)Waaaaaant! Can't buy a *bathtowel* for less than eight to ten, anymore, and trying to get a whole set is insanely expensive.
I want the round box, too - awesome!
ETA: I know, i know, the times, price vs. earnings, etc. It still seems an amazingly low figure.
