I worked in the Empire State Building for a while in the 1980s. It's on the edge of the garment district, so there are a lot of clothing companies there. They used to have sample sales that they advertised with flyers in the women's restrooms. You'd go up to another floor at lunch and paw through piles of sweaters or dresses at wholesale prices. I got some cool stuff.
