I also think it's funny the company offers to send you a nail-file along with a sample swatch of the material. Another test could just be standing on, say, a chair upholstered in it in a pair of really high stilettos. See how it stands up to those suckers.

it's a composite material, coloured-plastic-impregnated textile, then a clear coating over it - the idea being that the clear surface takes the wear and tear leaving the colour untouched.

Of course, after 10 years of exposure to sunlight it's all a moot issue anyway but you weren't supposed to keep ANYthing for ten years.

Huh. I'm having a hard time imaging that the wear of the clear coating wouldn't show in time. Damaged clear plastic tends to turn white. (And now I'm wondering how the textile must have felt on your skin. Like cheap fake leather? Vinyl?)

yup, vinyl, cause that's what it was, most likely

you wouldn't even have to use the furniture, exposure to UV degraded the plastic and turned it first yellow and then cloudy and then it disintegrated ... I imagine in AZ for instance this stuff just didn't last more than a few years unless it was sequestered indoors away from sunlight
