Holy crap- that clown is scary. I think it's more likely to make your heart stop than gladden it.

Bay City Rollers? Chuck Mangione? Tony Orlando? Only the best music, I see!

I'm glad that woman in the Dr. Pepper ad is not drinking real sugar or she'd be even more ~crazed~

it was the 80s, there was coke floating in ambient clouds through every major urban center

If the can color is indicative of the date this ad was made (and no, I don't understand why Dr Pepper made it metallic blue and dark blue instead of its traditional scarlet and maroon), she's probably drinking saccharin, whose aftertaste would leave anyone crazed.

AIGH! Columbia ad! I remember those! I couldn't understand why my parents wouldn't let me spend my penny, though.

Abuh? Who thought that blue Dr. Pepper was a good idea?

Dr Pepper diet tastes as good as the real deal (which we can still get in this area made with actual sugar not HFCS) but with a HUGE amount if carbonation.

And might I add, your icon inspires a huge urge to motorboat those bosomses? :D

I have a whole case of diet Dr. Pepper in my cabinet right now. I totally agree it's as good as the real deal. ;)

I just don't get the choice to change the color of the can. I guess they've just brainwashed me into thinking red and silver are the ONLY appropriate colors for packaging such a beverage.

I also must agree with your motorboating sentiment. Though I think removing the teacups first might be a good idea. ;)

I'm anxiously awaiting the seasonal cranberry Canada dry gingerale. That rocks my sods off. :D

And why remove the teacups? Tea and nookies! What could be better? *giggling*

OMG, it's OUT already around here! I just drank like nine over the course of a weekend. It's the most wonderful time of the year...

Grrrrrr where we shop it's not out yet. I'm gonna stock up once we find it. Eggnog is already out, not that I'm supposed to have it, hee! (diabetic, but I bought a small bottle and didn't drink all of it. Eggnog is NOT supposed to be made from lowfat milk! It ruins the mouthfeel!)

The first one is killing me. "68% of large groups of women-many men-have this common Borderline Anemia." So 68% of all large groups of women are men? Oh 1950s, please never change.

And the Columbia House one? I love the fact that KISS is only two higher than the Star Wars soundtrack.

"Look at this thing! It's called a RECORD! Oh, what a delight, will wonders never cease?!"

Those people aren't anemic, they're from the future.

actually, vinyl records are making a comeback - records will soon become the new "black" ;)

Roughly dating the ad from the clothes, I'd say that record is pre-vinyl (ie. 78s on shellac). Basically they were singles that broke really, really easily - remember all those old movies with people smashing records, usually over each other's heads? *G*

... And "the gang" probably bought them from the record club, which is why the couple in front are looking less than enthused!

#5: I'll take that one, that one, that one....most of those! hehe

Wow if that happens with Borderline Anemia, I guess if you get Full On Anemia, you're really in danger.

Oooh, I remember those ads too! I remember sometimes I'd go through and highlight the ones I wanted, but I never did actually join. Probably a good thing.

Hmm, I'm borderline anemic also. I was considering shutting myself away from society and taking my iron supplements in seclusion, so as not to be a drag at parties and depress everyone with my obvious poor health. I like your solution much better.

"Borderline" anemia...is that something Madonna suffers from, now that Maddy is 52?
