I went looking online to see if I could find a photo of the toy, but nope. They are probably very valuable now.
(Not really commenting on whether something like that SHOULD be valuable, mind. My mother collects old toys, and she says boy dolls and African American dolls/toys are much more valuable, mostly because not as many were made and because people didn't consider them worth much, so they didn't survive.)
Most everybody here has touched on the "OMGWTF" aspect of this item, so all I can say is: writing the ad copy in the passive voice was such an unprofessional idea! "Upon opening the watermelon...is found..." Such awkward grammar.
There are similar things in The Wellcome Collection in London, only Japanese. Little ceramic fruits that open to reveal three people shagging. Perplexing.
