hey, any creative banner makers here??? i think it would be neat to have a banner for the winner of the monthly contest....could anyone make something up?? if you do, could you post it in the comments here? (or link to it in the comments here?)

also, after 12 months of vintage ads contests, i think we'll have an 'ad of the year' contest based on the monthly winners, and we'd need an ad of the year winner banner too....

banner, icon, badge, graphic, something....ad of the year should be a bigger one than the monthly winner though!

post your handy work in the comments please of this post and any ideas are welcome!!!

well i dunno what i need....aside from what i described above.....something denoting monthly winner and then something bigger that denotes the yearly winner....ad of the month, ad of the month with ???? for the background....montage of ads? i dunno!!!

i am sure that doesn't help ya....but really, i am open to seeing things....maybe once i see something i'll have a better idea....

ooooo.....thanks!!! i like #2 and #8!!!!! they look like vintage ads....

#2 for winner of the year, and #8 for winner of the month....

#2---the can should say "Vintage Ad of the Year" and his bubble should say something like "More voters agree, _____winner's name____ is tops"...

#8...."Did you hear? ___winner's name___ had Vintage Ad of the Month"....

how's that copy sound??

OK so that sounds like something to do on-the-spot when the winner is decided. Is there somewhere we can park these blanks so people can find them easily? In case I get hit by a truck or whatever :) I like the idea of lots of people doing lots of awards and let the winner pick the one they might like to use ...

Also I had the thought that it might be nice to use the winner's winning ad in the award?

(BTW it is all from vintage material, if not all ads.)

well, i'd rather have a set winner for the month and the year....consistency.....

i do like the idea of maybe incorporating the ad into an award though....hmmm....that would require 'work' wouldn't it though? :)

do you know enough InDesign & Photoshop to work with an ID file and size a JPG?

i can only crop a pix in photoshop or lighten a photo....i am a inept at photoshop! and i have never heard of indesign!

i think i could put text on something though!!!

InDesign is a layout program, it is what you use to assemble pictures and text and geometric shapes and so on. What I'm going to suggest is that you keep and/or post somewhere the InDesign files I used to create the award so that anyone who knows InDesign can put together an award for you. Yes??

Sure! Do you want new text each month, or just one that can be used? Since you've already planned out the next several months, it'd be real easy to do a batch of them. Just lemme know what you want it to say, and I'll make some up. All the hard work is already done, when I cleaned the text and background of the ad last week :D
