Holy crap that's bright blue! Though some of the other colors pictured could be very cool...

The model looks startled, perhaps by the term "powder patty." I shall never look at eyeshadow the same again. Now I'll be thinking "powder patty" every time I look at make up, lol^.^

"Poured" is the right word indeed, but not for the creamy feel!

It's like she got hit by Homer's makeup gun.

It's kind of amazing how the things you saw as a child can influence you forever...

I'm looking at this ad and 33 year old me is balking at the over application of far too bright blue.

But somewhere inside me there's a little 8 year old girl going 'I WANT SOME! SHE LOOKS LIKE JEM! AND BARBIE! D8 ♥'

I suppose I shall never completely outgrow the need to look like one of the Misfits, even though my older self knows better.

I seem to recall many of my She-Ra figures having make-up like this, as well. Drat. Now it's looking normal.

I know - I just painted a doll the other day (for myself) and went with blue eyeshadow... and the whole time I was thinking "Blue? Really? Blue? Should I?" - it's like I have some sort of built-in love/hate thing for blue shadow. I was kind of afraid of it for years and years and even now will only use it super-sparingly, LOL!

Pic of dolly here, though the light is making the blue look less blue than it really is: http://flight108.com/bjd/2010_Images/October10/CecilyCloseup10-12.jpg

But see that's a darker blue which also doesn't go all the way to the eyebrows in a cartoonish way.

Wearing the same colour shadow from the eyelashes to the eyebrow looks so odd to me.
The 'spoonful of cream' part also causes me to imagine that these smelled really, really bad if they got hot.

I confess being part of that cosmetic mindset, but not for long. I stopped when the deli guy kept calling me, "Blue eyes." My eyes are brown.

I have to confess too. I stopped when a friend kindly told me that bright blue eyeshadow "competes with" brown eyes.

I can't imagine now why I ever owned any blue eyeshadow. But I still look at the picture and it doesn't jump out at me as "awful" to be honest.

OMG. I was 13 when I went with my mom, and I look like a 40 year old truckstop waitress drag queen. The embarrassment kicked in three days later, when the fun of getting made up and photographed faded. And my mom just turned into an Old Person and started putting photos on every wall ever, and of course which one do I see when I leave my room?! (every week, something new happens around here that makes me which I could afford to move out -.-)

The blue on my eyes isn't as bad as this ad, but wow. It's bad enough.

(not that there's a problem with 40 year old truckstop waitress drag queens, but ... you know, drag queen styling on a thirteen-year-old...)

You know, I have to say...

All that mineral makeup and the blogs with super bright colored eyeshadows? Except for the powder-patties and the 70s style hair, this reminds me very very strongly of the mineral makeup stuff.
