This is probably just sneaking under the deadline, but I've got a better scan of this one (I've posted it before) and this is the perfect time to post it. After all, its a complete cure for obesity, hysteria and gout!

That's right, "hysteria". *wink wink, nudge nudge* And remember what Her Excellency has to say about it!

I really want the particulars about the trot, canter, and gallop settings. No to mention the testimonials from HRH.

I'm glad that someone finally talked to her about her stagnant liver.

How in the world did it work? Just by bouncing on it? I suppose a really big rocking horse would have been childish.

And I just noticed the address. It's not quite 221b Baker St. but it gave me a jolt anyway.

I noticed that too!

I am making particular note of the um... appendage there. I do not for one second believe that is intended to be merely a saddle horn.

Sorry to disappoint, but it is. The last time this was posted, I explained the construction of 19thC sidesaddles. I'll try to find the link.

Thank you for sparing me from having to explain... I've only ridden sidesaddle once, so I'm sure you know much more about it than I. :)

Nerd hat on...

Possibly more than anyone wants to know about late 19thC sidesaddles.

Thanks. I've seen pics of some older sidesaddles, but none with the right pommel like that one. And needless to say, the saddle I rode in was a modern one. Definitely more strenuous than I'd thought! I'd love to try jumping sometime, after I'd really found my seat.

I get so frustrated about all the misconceptions people have about riding, horses, the amount of exercise it is... *sigh*

No doubt it's the saddle horn bit that gave complete satuisfaction to HRH.

No reason it couldn't look like an authentic sidesaddle AND give 'satisfaction'.

Doctors used to treat hysteria with vibrators in their offices. Which were sold out of the old Sears catalogues. I'm told.
