1945: Dole Pinapple lists key crops in every state and encourages you to volunteer. It's a pretty interesting list of what products were valued and when their growing seasons are. The deportation of Japanese Americans on the West Coast caused shortages of both vegetables and labor. Over 1/3 of California’s crops had been grown by Japanese-Americas. During internment, their crops rotted and fields went mostly unused.
