You can't have van weekend without a VW Kombi!

I love the Kombi. I went all round Europe in an old second-hand red-and-white one with no problems despite its age.

They stopped making them in 2012. This page shows some of the original ground-breaking 50s ads, and some new ones at the end celebrating their 60 years, e.g. "It's unusual to drive the vehicle you were conceived in", "It belonged to a Trotskyist, a Maoist, a Democrat, and a Republican without ever changing owners", the German police one, and the psychedelic one at the end.

remember when you could ride in the back of a pick up with nary anyone giving a side eye? actually you'd more than likely be given a side eye if you didn't let your kids ride in the back of the truck!!

i'm sure y'all have heard about the horrible earthquake in nepal and the increasing death count....not to mention the utter destruction of many cities....if you're able, doctors without borders accepts donations....they are impartial, neutral and send doctors, medical aids and medication to disaster areas worldwide....
