The winner of the fast food contest is [livejournal.com profile] misstiajournal (full disclosure, that's me! :) YEAH!!! What a great way to start off my day!!

re: our redesign, I need to send off ads to them...i have gotten bogged down with a rushed finish to a humungous research project....once i send the ads i do not know how long it will take....a member suggested we do get the 'featured post' widget saying that not only could contest winners be featured for the month, so could the current closest upcoming event....that was a really good point/usage idea for that widget, so we'll try it out---if all else fails, we can get rid of it! :) but it would be nice to feature winner's ads and the most current upcoming event....

also, at any time, if you go directly to our vintage ads page, in the sticky post is a link to our huge honkin' events calendar here.....

do you mind if i ask for more feedback? well, i'm gonna ask anyway! :D i do believe though, we are A COMMUNITY in the true sense of the word though, and i value everyone's opinion and suggestions....and this is an area i am totally clueless in (i'm walking into jokes there i know!)....anyway...

LJ has also generously given vintage ads tokens to advertise the community on the front page....i haven't extensively looked into this (that damn research project--gah!) BUT i saw that promoting an entry only uses a hundred or so tokens....so my question is thus:

would promoting an entry for a christmas eve/christmas day event be a good idea? (right now it's just movie trailers, but we could spread 'what i really wanted for christmas out for 2 days --- plus movie trailers christmas eve) as a sort of 'home alone? spend christmas eve with us!' ?

and/or do that for new year's eve? there will be people home and online (my hand is raised...)....any other suggestions/ideas of when might be a good day/event to promote vintage ads?

I read an interesting article about one of the regularly seen mascots here at Vintage Ads.
