WlVI 56 was across the street from my college. They had a great team of people before the 1996 communications act got them taken over by horrible channel 7 in 2006.

Local Station ad and promo

The ad is a repost, but one of my personal faves. Anyone who lived in DFW area in the '70s will remember this team: 




The weatherman's signature look was the bow tie, which he wore until he retired from this station a few years ago. His pants weren't always that tight, though. 

Iola Johnson was the first African-American anchor in that market. Here's a nice promo for her:

Icon Day, Don't Forget to Vote and Upcoming!! + a question about a tag.....

It's ALMOST the 15th here, so go ahead and start icon day!! The 15th of the month is when you can post an entry to the community with vintage ad icons and no ad (amnesty day)...if you have a lot of icons, a cut would be nice....i said we'd see how this goes and i think we'll forgo with icon request day and just keep icon post day on the 15th....

you can post icons without an ad, but the icons MUST be from vintage ads (not necessarily ones that were posted here either!!)....we've had some great icons posted so far, and remember, i made an 'icon' tag too!

don't forget to vote for our contest finalists on this entry here....i'll be posting the winner wednesday morning.....

October 31st One day special event ADS IN DISGUISE: A total one day amnesty where we can post fake ads. Ads you have made, ads you have found and yes, even old looking ads for new products.

What kind of tag should i have for ads in disguise? 'fake ad'? i don't want it to be a commonly used tag though, ya know?? 'ads in disguise'? i guess i could make a tag 'amnesty one time only' or something like that in case someone new starts going through the ads....feedback, ideas on this??
