There are a lot of odd things in this ad.

One commenter, SherlockH5, on Flickr raises a good question.
"This is a mysterious ad. The copy mentions the year 1938 and says that was six years ago, which would make the date of the ad 1944. Note the phrase "already planned for post-war use." But regular TV programming didn't begin until about 1948.

If this was printed in 1950, I wonder if they had the ad ready to go in 1944, but forgot to change the copy.

I know that apple sellers were plentiful enough that they became a sort of stereotype of the Depression, but seeing this card is fascinating to me!

I could have sworn there was a "Great Depression" tag. Maybe I need another aspirin.

stay tuned for more story time next week! and THIS WEEKEND is gonna be SWIMWEAR!! just a fun weekend....i'll post more about that friday morning....plus our event calendar (i'm gonna make an event calendar tag, is that a good idea?) of upcoming events....and i think i still want more feedback on a couple things i've asked before (that way no one can never say i never ever asked for anyone's opinion before we do something! :)

if you live in an area that's been hotter than hell, i hope you have done your best to stay cool and kept your furbabies cool too if you have them....we were suppose to have rain today but the storms totally diverted away from akron....ugh....need rain!!!! need cooler temps!!!!
