Yes, that's right, folks. She knows how to operate a refrigerator, but cars are usually much more complex. Not the new Ford Convertible, though! Now women can put the roof up just as well as their husbands! Hurrah!

It's Desi Arnaz, though. I think I really could forgive him anything...

Lucy and Desi did quite a lot of ads back in the fifties. I can't find my favourites on YouTube, but they're included in the I Love Lucy box sets. Season three contains both an ad encouraging us to buy loads of Philip Morris cigarettes, and one telling us to take care of our hearts. Talk about cross-purpose advertising!
