i think there was such a thing as asthma cigarettes...i saw your post and then it disappeared....you can repost that if you wish....who said it was a fake?? if that happens again, please contact me before deleting the post....
Sorry about screwing this up. I'm new to vintage_ads (great fun, btw) and have an unfortunate knack of running into every kind of mistake imaginable.
I get the impression that there were asthma cigarettes too, but Batty's was proven false by the fonts. myroughdraft directed me to this link (http://ask.metafilter.com/159771/Driving-me-Dr-Batty). Do you still want it reposted? I could add disclaimers.
if you wish to repost it, please resubmit it....you could claim that some people feel it is not a real vintage ad, but the product did exist...submit as a contest entry too...
and if this happens again, please send me a message before taking any action! thanks!
Can't say for sure about the ad (I don't know fonts beyond what a serif looks like), but I do know that beer has frequently been suggested for nursing mothers (still is), and could certainly act as a sleep aid, so this ad makes sense.
My discussion up thread was about another ad--Batty Cigarettes. I'll repost it in a few minutes. Indeed, Malt-Nutrine was a tonic targeted toward nursing mothers.
