Could this *be* any more Freudian? (Kleinian? Jungian?)

I'm just going to say that I still like Life Savers. And so does my horse--but he likes the Peppermint and Wintergreen ones. :)

Wintergreen! I've done that and it works. At least it did about 12 years ago. I tried it again recently and it didn't work at at all. :(

Yep! Wintergreen! *muses* I wonder what would happen if I gave my horse a mouthful. Would he be able to generate fireworks? LOL!

Perhaps not, but it does wonders for 'carrot breath' ;)

Which animal does the huge wishbone come from?

Life Savers are great, even though lime isn't one of the Five Flavors anymore :(

What?! So they dropped lime and kept pineapple?! Blech!

I'm pretty sure they Canadian ones still have lime in them. Unless I was just eating a really, really old roll...

Butter rum, I think. I'm pretty sure I've seen that one around too. Didn't it used to come in a plaid wrapper?

There might be butterscotch too. It was definitely a red and gold package, but I might be imagining the plaid part.

I only remember Butter Rum because I ate it thinking it was going to be butterscotch.

It wasn't. :(

Butterscotch Lifesavers did, indeed, exist at one time. In a plaid wrapper. They were my favourites as a child.

Butter Rum comes in the gold and red striped packaging and you can still get it.

The butterscotch is, alas, long gone it seems. ='(

Wow, thank you!! So [personal profile] bitterlawngnome and I were both half-right. Partial credit! :)

Yeah I read they took out orange, lemon, and lime. They replaced them with watermelon, blackberry, and raspberry. (They've since brougt back orange and took out one of the berries.)

Wikipedia says the original five-flavors are still sold in Canada.

So the only original ones left are cherry and the cursed pineapple? Blasphemy!

Good news on the Canadian front. I was a bit worried I'd eaten something ten years old.

I much prefer the sound of "retro-avante-garde." Let's go with that one.

Damn. I'm gonna have to have a Canadian friend send me some! I love the old flavors. Watermelon? BLECH.

You can send me all your pineapple Life Savers, those were always my favorite.

You are welcome to them! When I was younger, I would put the pineapple ones aside, then stuff them back into the roll when I was done in order to throw them out. If I'd hung on to them, I'd probably have around 50 rolls of nothing but pineapples by this point.

Agreed

I keep thinking the girl is going to win the bigger part of the wishbone, as the boy's extended thumb is going to put pressure on and most likely break the bone at its weakest/thinnest point.

Also this ad is in The Golden Age Of Advertising: The '50s, so I've had a lot of time to be a total geek and think about the above.
