*traumatised* Vintage, HOW? Oh... right. It was 30 years ago. ARGH.
A few years later drawings became really trendy for ads. And the style reminds me a little of the fashion drawings they had in Jackie magazine in the 70s/early 80s.
The sad part of that 30 year old fashion is that I would wear it today. The drawing makes it transcend it's era. If I had seen it in a live model, it may not have looked as wearable to me.
The art is gorgeous, even if it does look like she's wearing a pair of pyjamas. I love that they've even given directions as to what floor the clothes are on.
The costume historian James Laver (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Laver) - had a theory that fashions came and went in cycles, and you could predict people's attitudes to them depending on how old they were. According to his table, at 30 years the clothes of the early 80s are just about ready to move from being "hideous" to being "amusing". Give it another ten years and we'll probably be seeing a big shoulder-pad revival!
