This instantly sprang into my head when thinking about summertime advertising. Thank heavens it's on youtube!

The guy after the first girl is certainly proud of himself, my goodness.

the days before worrying about skin cancer.
when people had real tans, and not fake ones that made them look orange.

I remember that ad, too. I also remember trying fruitlessly to get a "deep dark tan" with my ultra pale, melanin-free complexion.

Now I'm single-handedly bringing back the Victorian look.

Until I was 17, my family lived in New England, and I could give paper a run for it's money on paleness. I tried -so- hard one summer to get a good tan, which promptly burned, left a weak little tan for maybe two weeks, and then vanished.

I gave up, decided to bask in my paleness, and what's my family do? Move to Arizona.

Turns out after 5+ years, you -will- tan there. I still can't get rid of it, and I left. :(
