It's interesting that these vintage cosmetics ads feature 2-4 colors in a new line, when today the companies won't launch a new line of, say, lipsticks with fewer than 20-30 shades. It's like, "YOU WILL WEAR TAWNY PORT OR RUBY GRAPE. NO DISCUSSIONS."

LOL, and it's almost always one or two "cool" colors, and one or two "warm" ones. You learned which you were, and that's what you bought.

I love everything about the pic except the hair. Hair was SO UGLY in the last 50s and early 60s. So was the makeup.

The statue looks lightly malevolent, a Dionysian imp or cherub. And the way it's image is repeated below. It's an interesting ad, but it's invoking strange things with that statue. I'll bet her teenage kids were a handful in the 70's. That's not a statue of a cute kid, it's a supernatural herald of Dionysus, and decadence. Interesting juxtaposition.
