The ultimate in sexist ads. Yes or No?

I love how they think that voters are so stupid that they need an illustration of how to check "no." I find it hard to believe that this ad did them any good...

They have to explain what a cross is and everything, apparently.

I need to lie down now. My head hurts from trying to comprehend which box to check.

I like how the logic of this makes no sense. If it's "doubling the irresponsible vote", that means the current male voters... are already voting irresponsibly. How are women going to make things any worse?

Hmmm its doubling the irresponsible vote?

It must be doubling the responsible vote as well.

That was actually an argument that was seriously tried - that women's votes were redundant because we would all just vote the same as our fathers or husbands anyway. I guess they wanted to avoid the expense of printing twice as many ballots?

I'm pretty sure the real fear was that women would vote in ways that were harder to predict, and that might favour issues relevant to women and children and families rather than wealthy men and businesses.

Well those darker skinned people were allowed to vote. The ad was probably equating the women with the Black vote, i.e. people who really couldn't understand the complexity of voting and might vote for politicians who wouldn't support the status quo. After all, what "good" woman would want to vote?

I would like to vote for this (ha! oh the irony) and also thank the women and men all over the world who gave their time, effort, sometimes their health and lives to make it possible for women to vote in most elections today.

Thank you (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_suffragists_and_suffragettes).

Actually, this ad was kind of mild when you consider the ridiculous, infuriating arguments used against women and the vote. The suffragette movement started way back in the 1840s, and it took until 1920 for women to get the vote in the States!

Kind of reads like some of today's political ads against gay marriage and such.

There are far too many people who are only happy when they can oppress someone else in order to feel less powerless about their own lives. Black rights, women's rights, gay rights - it's all about keeping someone to feel superior to. Evolve, already. Are you human? You're equal.
