Butterick Cook Book, 1924

Is it just me, or is that guy really creepy looking? I don't think meals cooked from The New Butterick Cook Book is going to improve things for him. Also, I didn't know Butterick put out cook books; I thought they only did patterns for sewing.

You can still buy the original cookbook (1911) or this one (1924) on abebooks, I have discovered. These old-style cookbooks often have recipes that have otherwise dropped out of use.

I was fortunate to inherit the 1911 Butterick cookbook from my Dad's aunts. You're right about the forgotten recipes; there are some gems in there!

Looks to me like he's using Butterick's as an excuse to abuse his wife. Or Buttericks is marketing abuse here. "You're not a complete asshole. It's your wife's cooking!"
