Cure-alls: part two

So, in the last segment we learnt that alcohol can cure the flu, that you won't be healthy and fit without your daily allowance of candy, and that fat will drain away with the application of Fell's mysterious vegetable pills (as long as you're not afraid of the evil consequences). What will we learn this time?

Well, the good news to start with is that Fell's aren't the only mysterious vegetable pills you can use to get rid of the pounds. You can also use Bile Beans!

What are Bile Beans, you ask? That's exactly what I wanted to know when I saw the painted ad in this post back in York a while ago. Now it seems the mystery is solved!



Slim while you sleep? Wow, I should have known that anything with 'bile' in the name couldn't possibly be bad!

Moving on from weight problems, let's see what advertising has to say about some other maladies. What about Asthma? Asthma's pretty bad, isn't it? It's okay though, because the cure is right here!



That's right, you can smoke your way to lung health! Man, I can't see anything wrong with that idea!

What about more embarrassing problems though? You know,like 'lost manhood', 'nervous debility' and even *whispers* impotency. Can anything be done about that?



Wow. And I thought groinal electrocution was only enjoyed by certain niche subcultures. Turns out it's good for you! Thanks, advertising!

I live near Portland OR and I Google Map'd 172 1st St to see what was there now, but unfortunately there are like four 1st Streets in and around Portland so I don't know which one it is without a zip code :(

I live in Portland. It was just adjacent to the river either on what is now the SE or SW sides, nearby the Burnside Bridge. That's where the you'd find that sort of business a century ago (Portland history is fascinating). My money's on SW.
