I freaking LOVE them. I'd love to have one now. My couch is very cool, early 70s, but it's got a broken spring and crappy cushions. If I could get an old skool hide a bed or even a divan in good condition, I would be in hog heaven because then I'd have a spare bed for people.

Dunno if it was a Simmons, but my family had a hide-a-bed for years. For the longest time, I thought a hydabed was its own word and not hyphenated. One of those things that, when I saw it written for the first time, I thought "that can't be right."

because i think this ad is from the 50s and it was risque to show couples in bed together! the record creates a sort of dividing line that they cannot cross.....

and notice their hands are very visible too! who SLEEPS like that?!?!

Oh you dear sweet naive person. That is his swinging bachelor pad and in the first pic he is moving in for the kill. Probably by suggesting they listen to some really hot jazz.
