Not to mention there wasn't as much pressure on men to get married and have kids as there was on women. I watched a video from the 1940s about Marie Curie, and her father-in-law said something along the lines of "a woman who doesn't have children is a selfish waste because she has life but won't share it" D:
Why didn't they just brush their goddamn teeth? Or, you know, pull a friend over for a quiet chat and say "Let me know if my breath, or any other part of me, stinks."
Because this is an advertisement designed to make you terrified that your breath *might* stink due to a missed food particle or a friend who just won't tell you... and so you buy Listerine and swill it all day long.
