Sears kit homes are so interesting to me. I'm always on the lookout for some of the tell-tale details (ie, five-panel doors).

Wow!
Houses like that sell for about 400 grand around here now.
I'd love to live in one.

Amazing find.

I just remodeled my bathrooms and one sink was almost that much.

i dont have a scanner but we just inherited a book of blue prints and speks for building houses, barns, and even a couple of churches... it is a "pocket" book for basically building a town from the late 1800's ...
i wil have to see what details i can find on it.. it is interesting because it advertises becoming an agent to sell the books in the back and all...

A friend of mine used to live in the first Sears Catalog house ever built (well consumer bought obviously not the ones they had for prototypes). It is in West Point, Virginia (not NY)and it was a nice house, if just a tad small. Been around for around for 100 years or so at least and in an area prone to flooding (low lying peninsula between 2 rivers about 15 blocks wide) so they were built well at least. The town used to have a big resort but that burned down a long time ago and they had to rebuild the town.
