I just assume they're Elegant Gothic Lolita gardeners. Those girls will try to do ANYTHING in a crinoline and criss-cross lace-up slippers.

I miss the old days when department stores carried EVERYTHING--they even had delicatessens and/or grocery departments, laundry departments, just about everything you could want!
