Usually they're not nearly as graphically interesting as the women's toiletries ads, but here's one from the back cover of a 1915 SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN, that is essentially a parody of the front cover of the same issue -- their 70th Anniversary Number -- at the very least, it forms a wrap-around with the cover art.

Hee hee: "toilet luxuries".

Was it common to take your shaving into the back yard and watch the train go by? Honestly, though, that shaving stick looks pretty cool.

The packaging IS pretty--and I'd like to try the violet-scented items. I love violet-scented soaps and talcum powder and so on; it's getting more and more difficult to find it! When I do, it's usually got other scents added to it that I don't like!

The bottles on the right look so pretty. I would love to have them in my bathroom.

Seeing stuff like this makes me sad that manufacturers don't put as much detail and flair into packaging as they did back in the day..
