Sooo... do you use the same pad 5 times or did people in the olden days just apply deodorant essentially once a week?

I'm an old one, lemme tell ya - born in 1964. My mother was born in 1934 and my father in 1925. They both believed that bathing and washing hair any more than once per week was excessive. Made my teenage years in the early 80s some fun, I tell ya!

Yeah, well I'm older than you (and dirt), born in '62, with folks born in the '20s. Ditto everything you said, plus my mom was convinced that if I washed my hair 1) when it was cold, and went outside or 2) during my menses, I would get DEATHLY ILL.

Ok, taking my creaky old bones home now - ta-ta!

I have you BOTH beat (3/11/1958), and I grew up in a climate that *required* daily bathing in summer, or everyone would know it (Saint Louis, Missouri).

Well, happy birthday! :-D

Hey, I live in the Lou now; I suppose I have to ask you where you went to high school...

The weather where I grew up (north Delaware) is pretty similar to St. Louis, except that in the summer, it cools down at night there. Ocean breezes, ya know.

Good catch! Huh. If it's lasted this long, maybe there's some use to it--but it must be hell on sensitive skin.

Lard, I'd never touch those pads, not with a 10-foot pole. My skin is WAY too sensitive...as is my nose! Most deodorants have such strong perfumes - nasty!

Being the old hippie that I am, I use a rock crystal deodorant; it works great, most of the time. (Ok, given enough heat and/or activity, I do smell. And I don't care.)

It just occurs to me: women back in pre-hippie days had this crap under their arms, Mentholatum spread on their chafed bits and freaking Lysol shot up their cooters to preserve "feminine daintiness".

Yyyyeah, I'll take rock crystals and essential oils, thanks.
