I miss seeing those signs. They were so distinctive. Now they just blend in with everyone else's.

I used to love those signs, too. Did anyone really take notice of them disappearing? I remember they used to be all over the place. And then all of a sudden, it seems like they were just gone. People today love to complain about the excesses represented by these garish 50's and 60's style signs, but at least they were unique. Hotels these days (and most new buildings in general) remind me of drab communist project housing, with their homogenized, fake-stucco cookie-cutter appearance.
