Maybe she was sincere...hmm. But try this now and I'm sure the result would be far from delighted, lol. I keep waiting for the board to collapse under their weight, too!
I asked for a blender last year. This year I want Glasslock food storage containers (http://www.amazon.com/Snapware-Glasslock-Tempered-Storage-Containers/dp/B0029U57RA/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1254420025&sr=1-3). You know, I really could use a new ironing board...Hmmm!
Dad gave mom a new ironing board for her birthday one year--I remember going to Sears and helping him pick it out. Holy shit, was she pissed! I think she wanted to break it over his head. I was pretty little at the time and didn't understand that even though she'd been talking about getting a new one, it didn't mean she wanted one for a birthday present...
I picked up an old Rid-Jid at a vintage store and it was not only strong, it didn't rock back and forth like most ironing boards. I sold it prior to a downsizing move, but I'd gladly get another one if I could find one.
