[identity profile] chamisa.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] vintageads

From the October 1957 issue of Western Family Magazine.

You know...I'm actually thinking of trying to make this. Minus the pimientos. I need a spiffy souffle dish like that to bake it in, though...

The 1950s had a love affair with Tunafish casseroles and dishes. AND pimento too ;)

Never have I heard about making a souffle with yeast - the yeast sellers must really have been in need of some new recipe ideas. If this was a part of a campaign, I would love to know what else they did come up with.

No pimiento cheese sandwiches on Wonder bread for you then?

Oh man, I wish I could have that for lunch! But we don't get good pimiento cheese up here in WA. :(

You should make this and then post it on vintage_recipes.

I don't just want a soufflé dish, I want that soufflé dish. omg that pale-ocean-blue color is gorgeous. (It would match my imaginary kitchen crap of Mickey Mouse red and Currier & Ives blue quite well, perhaps. (i really need to get my C&I dishes out of storage to make sure i'm not missing anything crucial before i move out. thanks great-grandmother for leaving them to me!))

If you do make it, you won't find a 7 oz can of tuna.. they've all shrunk to 5 oz.

The grocery store near me has a whole shelf full of the Campbell's variety. I could send you some. :)
