I keep meaning to update it, since I've had it going way back, from when she was just 'Paula's Home Cooking', and she's sporting the big hair she has in your icon.
I'm always amused by how advertising invents problems out of mundane things. I've never taken the skin off a hot dog in my life and I lived to tell the tale. Skinless weiners why?
The ones you buy at the grocery are actually skinless. Though made and cooked in a 'skin' it's removed after the weiner is cooked. If you ever see footage of hot dogs being made, you'll probably notice that during production, they have a big black stripe down the side. That's on the cellulose tubing (skin) in which they're made.
On a side note, watching hot dog production is kind of unappetizing. Meat slurry is kind icky looking.
