Ack. That looks more like a stern warning than a serving suggestion.

Only YOU can prevent people from roasting Vienna sausages over a flaming cabbage head.

Warning: do not eat any food named Potted Meat Food Product!

Mushed ham is not a delicacy, no matter how you serve it. The ad agency dudes that came up with this were seriously on drugs :)

I think there's a reason why the platter looks like an upside down pentagram and the meat looks like a sacrifice...

The food is of the DEVIL!

Those appetizer meats don't look too appetizing.

I expect it would have looked a wee bit better if the platter didn't match the color of the meat so much. Contrast goes a long way....

This definitely shows how large a part potted meats played in decades past. Nowadays, many of us buy one kind or another (perhaps as a back up), but with all the fresh and frozen items available, most canned meats stay on the shelf. We have canned chicken in the pantry, but I usually just microwave or poach a frozen chicken breast.

The same goes for vegetables. I usually choose fresh or frozen over canned, so the canned veggies sit and sit and sit...

With all the "deli-sliced" meats and such so readily available to us now, the texture of canned meats has become strange.
