WAY too much lipstick on that tot. I love how it's come 180 from that - now children's doctors tell you to dilute juice half and half with water and not to give much of it at all. Sorry, Sunkist!
Apparently my grandmother must have seen this ad. Every time we'd visit her for a week or two as kids (we live in different states) she'd make us drink orange juice every morning. I hate orange juice. (Except for Simply Orange, that stuff is awesome.)
It's a brand, I think they were selling the oranges, not the orange juice. My grandparents used to keep oranges in a wicker basket in their TV room. I LOVED rolling those things around, even though I had actual toys, so the stamp on the orange is pretty familiar.
seconding amiga500's comment, sunkist is a brand name for many citrus-based produce and drinks. they're actually a cooperative for west-coast u.s. citrus growers. that said, they do make a lot of the fruit-flavored sodas (e.g. what we called "orange drink" when i was a kid) that you get at grocers and restaurants.
it's interesting that the name is automatically associated with soft drinks in australia - has that become a generic term, like "kleenex" or "band-aid" or (something i just found out recently) "popsicle"?
