misstiaOur July Contest starts TOMORROW!! the theme is PIE!!! yes, we can be creative with 'pie' so yes, ads with pie charts are okay, if an ad has 'pi' that's okay too....if i'm leaving out a variation or example of 'pie', feel free to fill in on the comments here, but if there is a pie of some kind in the ad that fits our theme!!!
Rules
1. you must put at least 'contest' in the subject line
2. all regular rules apply (see our info page) EXCEPT only one entry per post
3. print or video ads are fine
4. VOTING, i think some day i'll make a video on how to vote (i might be being half sarcastic, it is quite hot here today): but voting is via a YES in the comments....i only count yes's...i do not count 'i like this' or 'i hope this wins' or 'this is my vote'....only a YES....i read all the comments on vote tallying day (hence why you'll see a reply from me to requests, etc on that day if i haven't gotten to it before)....ad posters, please, if you think someone means a 'yes' please encourage them to put a yes in the comments...
5. regular ads are of course accepted during our contest!
6. i always forget if we have another rule or not and hem and haw here.....did i mention it's really hot? shouldn't al gore be delivering ice cream via his private jet? i tweeted him requesting a rocket pop....
7. HAVE FUN!!!! :)
oh....yeah, since i am not posting an ad this probably isn't technically allowed via the rules, but uh, i wrote the rules, so it's okay? but we have a community that started due to many of our vintage ads that had recipes in them....![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-community.gif)
vintage_recipes is our sister community....i know many of the pie ads will have recipes so maybe if y'all wanted to cross post or share over there that would be fun....
and again, not an ad, not even ad related, but DAMN is it hot (was 108 here today, tomorrow 110!), here's a recipe i use quite often for a refreshing pie, i see it in variations all over with condensed milk but this is far easier....
lemonade pie
1 graham cracker crust
6oz frozen lemonade (i can't find them anymore, i cut a 12oz one in half)
1 pint vanilla ice cream
1 tub cool whip
let ice cream soften a bit---so you can blend it, but not melted; have the lemonade mostly thawed out....mix the lemonade, ice cream, cool whip and pour in graham cracker crust....put in freezer for at least 4 hours....it is creamy, tart and refreshing! some people put in some yellow or pink food coloring....i don't, i don't care....it's good....
query:should we occasionally have 'open posts'?? like once a month or something i post an appropriate ad and then people could have a free for all about whatever in the comments??? i mean off topic conversations are always welcome in the comments of any post, but would an open post be better???
