This subject is rather boring, but I was excited when I found this ad. Financial printing is one of those niche businesses that most people do not know about unless they are directly involved with it so I was really surprised to find this ad in a magazine (Texas Monthly) that's not a really a business publication. Basically, financial printing involves helping publicly traded companies file annual reports, IPOs, and other compliance documents with the SEC. Most filing is done electronically now, but there's still a demand for printed material like prospectuses and things like that.
I used to work for Bowne in the Dallas office. I did know a few people in the Houston office, though. Sadly, Bowne, one of the oldest companies in America, is no more. It was acquired by RR Donnelley (another company I worked for and where my husband works now) in 2010. It was kind of cool working for a company that was older than the United States! I think the guy on the right trained me. Well, he was almost that old.
