Texaco service stations, 1941  (artwork by Peter Helck)

The copy alone sells me: "The hour is late...the driving, tough...the road, lonely. Then, through the cold, wet darkness shines a star... the Texaco Star.  Beneath its friendly light, a man waits to serve you...a Texaco dealer, alert, capable, competent."

Lark automobiles, 1961 advertising brochure

Note that the vehicle is not pictured at all (having not come out yet).  I also love the attempt at a scribbly alien language, and the de rigeur transparent helmets and communication antennae.
