KTXQ: Q102 Texas' Best Rock (1991)

Pardon me while I trip on some local-interest nostalgia. If you can't relate, just think about whatever rock 'n roll radio station was popular in your town during your formative years--the one for which at least half the cars at your high school had a bumper sticker. That is basically what this is about.

Q102 Jan 1991 TM

Of course, they were bought out by some corporate entity that forced it into general suckitude and it died a horrible death as all the great music stations did.

Bigger of the tickets. How many bands/performers can you identify? )

Point Break (1991)

Well, it's sort of about presidents. Presidents who surf, rob banks, and jump out of airplanes. Oh, who cares about plot? Patrick Swayze. 'Nuff said.

She should put a mini fridge in her office like Liz Lemon does to keep her tampons cold.

clock theme: Dillard's watches (1991)

You have to set your watches back, too. Unless you live in advertising land, where it's always ten after ten. Really, check it out. Watch ads showing other times are rare these days because advertisers believe this is the best way to show the hands. I've heard it said that it has a subliminal "happy face" effect.

Dillards watches TM Oct 91

I think these watches are pretty, but I HAVE to have numbers or I get confused.

Gottex (1991)

A repost, but keeping with theme. That might be Claudia Schiffer.

We don't have a swimwear tag?

We're through the looking-glass here, people!

While continuing the file cleaning venture at work, I stumbled across a 1991 copy of Autoweek magazine! And all it did was remind me how ugly cars from back then were. Ick.

Contest Entry: Emporio Armani (1991)

I'm guessing this is a holiday ad because I think he's supposed to be an angel. Either that or he's a relative of Harvey Birdman

Grand Marnier Liqueur (1991)

Most adorable booze ad ever!

The little guy on the left is my holiday icon.

The Pavilion on Post Oak (1991)

Tonight on TLC's I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant, Amy's 24-month undetected pregnancy comes to an abrupt, but unusually clean, end.

Clint Black and Miller Light (1991)

CMA awards time! (Which means no Modern Family tonight, but oh well.) Clint Black won CMA Horizon Award in 1989 and Male Vocalist of the Year in 1990.

The Addams Family (1991)

After all that scariness, I think it's time for something that the people in the film consider horrific, but what we consider good fun. And it just barely makes the vintage date cutoff!

Da da da dum! *snap snap* )

War against Breast Cancer Advertising Supplement from 1991

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month (what's left of it), I am posting this advertising supplement from the October 1991 issue of Texas Monthly. Although we are bombarded with breast cancer awareness reminders today everywhere from our doctor's office to the NASCAR track, there was a time when people did not even discuss it. Fortunately, that had changed by this time.
