Hudson's Bay Company

The Hudson's Bay Company has been a Canadian institution for hundreds of years, but this is my vintage. My mom worked at The Bay and lots of our clothes and household goods came from there.

Over and over: Lost Boys 1987

This movie was at the downtown theater 17 weeks, a record. Mondays were $1.50 night, regular price $3, amazing prices! My high school best friend and I went and saw it twice a week for all 17 weeks. Mondays and Saturdays. "Death by stereo" is one of my favorite lines. The soundtrack is top notch.

Today would have been Michael Hutchence's 59th birthday.

Not from Kick, but the song and video that really made them famous in the states. Damn he had charisma.

30 Years Ago Today...

...The Lost Boys was released. This is the movie I saw the most at a theater. 17 times. And yes, when I'm eating Chinese food, if there's white rice I will say "Maggots Michael, you're eating maggots. How do they taste?" Some people get it, usually I get a weird look. People who give you a weird look are those you don't need in your life in my opinion. This'll be this evening's viewing.

Willow!

because [livejournal.com profile] misstia has never seen this, and this needs to be rectified immediately :p

Weekend Event: Back to the Beach!

I remember really liking this movie as a kid. Then again, I was a major Pee Wee Herman fan too

Oddly enough, Ive never seen any of the 1960s beach films, though Ive been meaning too.

1987 Phillips Lightbulb Commercial

Hubs and I celebrated our 14th wedding anniversary this week! Oddly enough he mentioned this ad...or that we would be like this couple some day. I don't remember it growing up, but hubs sure did!

One Day Event: Long.

Howie Long.

Howie Long for Nike Air, 1987

(I'd been hoping to post one of his Radio Shack TV spots with Teri Hatcher, but those are still out of range for another five years...)

October 21, 2015. It is officially THE FUTURE.

If you'll remember, Oct. 21, 2015 was the date in the future when Doc Brown and Marty McFly were to have arrived from 1985.

Well, what have we got to show for it?

Where is my flying car?

Where is my cheap fusion power?

Where is my hoverb-oh, wait, we have hoverboards now, nvm

Where are my self-lacing sneakers?

Weekend Event Double Bill: Paper Moon/Moonstruck

A pity we never got a film with Stockard Channing, Channing Tatum, anad Tatum O'Neal all in it.
