Armstrong Flooring

I absolutely love this Rug.

I also spy a Russel Wright pitcher on the back table.

do have a rug tag? carpet? do we need a 'does the carpet match the drapes' tag?

The rug is beautiful. I am just wondering whether it is part of a collection and you are supposed to change it out for the appropriate season?

I actually like the area rug, but I think it belongs some other room. I love the approach of homes like this, they make the backyard 'the view' and turn it into a private little oasis accessible only to the occupants. Pity they made you go sit in the corner to watch TV, though. Oh well, all of that was new and they didn't yet realize TV is meant to take over your life.

Howcome all living rooms in the 50s look like they are built in a cellar - even those which aren't?

Homes in this style generally have a wall of side by side by side picture windows looking out at the backyard. This one has a sunken living room, but they do not feel subterranean.

The one I'm most familiar with also had a pitched ceiling over this room, high in the center and lowering to a more intimate level by the rear windows. It kept it cozy without being claustrophobic.
