Wow, that would have been crazy expensive.

Yeah, and nowadays you can fit more than that on an iPod Nano. How times change.

I like the ambience of the scene--what song is she listening to? What memories does it evoke? She appears to be so melancholy, or perhaps dreamy.

Or maybe her date's late AGAIN, and she's thinking, "What an a$$hole!"

i think she's listening to some jazz and pining for her lover to get himself away from his wife and kids...she's smoking and listening to billie holiday sing "lover man", wondering if she'll ever fully possess him or if she'll always be the 'other woman'....

It has to be something like that... the ad is so evocative. It just has something.

Except that it's shut.... so I don't think she's listening to anything!

My grandparents had a similar console system with a TV built in the 50's, and you could play records, or listen to the radio with all the doors shut.

Maybe Billie...but my guess it's someone like Chet Baker, doing "I Fall In Love Too Easily" or "My Ideal." Early to mid-fifties cool.

I've got a HUGE maganavox console record player. I've named her Consuela:) She can blow away any modern stereo with her sound!

Valve amp? They were amazing things. The sound is so crystalline.

I want one! My grandmother had a console record player that I would have loved to have. Unfortunately, once the rest of her family got done picking through her belongings, it had already been claimed. By the family jackass, of course.

No, I'm not bitter.
