I won't say that's the oddest commercial I've ever seen in my life, but it's high on the list.

I'm not familiar with the product, but judging from the hairstyles, make up and fashions I'm guessing it's about 1976-1978.

It looks more like the late 60's to me. 67/68, around there. Not sure when it became popular to mix animation with live action, but I know that it started some time before this ad.

The idea of it is certainly late '60s but they just didn't combine all those fashions, hair and make up styles any earlier than the mid to late '70s. His suit is straight out of Saturday Night Fever for starters, and I had that hairstyle in 1977. Trust me on this - I sell vintage clothing for a living.

Oh wow - I stand corrected! And I think it's so cool that you sell vintage clothing :)

Thank you :) I feel very fortunate to do what I love.

The lapels aren't wide enough, this'd be around the turn of the sebendies.

Not all of the '70s lapels are massive (suits often come with dates written in them) but if you mean that they had this kind of lapel in the late '60s, that would be correct. Not sure what "sebendies" are though?

Reminds me of a Disney movie. It is king of weird though.

It's still not as weird as the IHOP one (which is my favorite ever).

I'd never even heard of this stuff. After finding out it's still in production, I desperately want to try some.

So I'd say the commercial worked, although perhaps not the way it intended.

Definitely what Gene Hunt buys for a hot date.

The Gene-Genie would absolutely buy this and probably carry spares in the boot "just in case". :)
