I loved these! (and the expansion set, too) My husband tried to get me one recently and they are bleeping expensive! Plus the little crayon generally was gone and I wouldn't know what to use as a replacement.

I honestly don't know. I think I remember what it felt like--not like a pencil's graphite, but a lot harder than a crayon. Could have been a hard charcoal.

I had these! Spent hours playing with them. My mom was convinced I wanted to be a fashion designer. She was disappointed that I didn't learn to sew.
