And after seeing this, I went down Memory Lane with regards to Motown of the disco era. “The Bells” is the Originals’ classic tune (though I still prefer Laura Nyro’s cover with Labelle), but they did a good job of adapting to disco. And the Thelma Houston catalogue is way underrated (check out “Saturday Night, Sunday Morning,” it may not be “Don’t Leave Me This Way,” but it deserved to chart way higher than #34). Ditto Táta Vega (how was “You’ll Never Rock Alone” not huge?).
