Weekend event

uh no, actually when i think of asbestos i think of all of the lawdy lawd there's asbestos and now it's gonna cost 20 times more to do something cuz it's gotta be removed by the EPA or something like that.....also, the house i was tortured in as a child (cannot call it 'home') had asbestos siding that would leave a chalky residue on you if you brushed up against it....a neighbor and i use to actually rub our hands on it and then lick the chalky residue pretending it was powdered sugar.....

this is particularly apropos...

mama called me 2 days ago to tell me one of her longtime friends (we met these people in 1975!), the lady's husband died of mesothelioma, from asbestos exposure.

they had a lot of asbestos abatement going on at the various naval bases the evil ex was assigned to, also.

I inherited my parents' 100-year-old house, so, yeah, the octopus gravity furnace in the basement is all wrapped up in asbestos. *sigh* Guess I need to finally do something about it come next spring.

Wait.... waitaminnit... "the cap for nerves in a sensitive tooth"????? I had no idea asbestos was ever used to cap teeth. And why, exactly, was it a standby of housewives on ironing day? Did they make ironing board covers from it? That's the only thing that really comes to mind...
