I liked this chick so much that she's one of my icons now!

The thing on her head . . . an interrogation device? An early EEG machine? Nope. She's just getting her hair curled. I remember the first time I saw a permanent wave machine in a museum when I was a kid and to this day the idea of those things terrifies me. If nothing else, this looks horribly uncomfortable.

I wonder if anyone ever got the idea to put these in a theater so women could watch movies while getting permed. Probably not. Multitasking wasn't a big priority then. Besides, you could always read a magazine and you definitely could gossip!
I've always though the style that I typically associate with Marcelling was very pretty.

The electrical perm was probably the beginning of the term 'beauty is pain' since having your hair catch on fire was a major problem.
