My Xmas wish list

Lego Technic Racing Car 8865

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

I was about 11/12 years and I wanted this set so badly, unfortuntely it was 60-70£ (if memory serves me right) and my parents refused to buy it for me for Christmas, I scrimped and saved my pocket money for ages and still couldn't afford it. My husband bought it for me for my 30th birthday and we spent many happy evenings building it together, I still have it.

I have wanted this set forever, it has figures! It has a death ray! It has Darth Vader! It has the compacter hall, it has Han Solo and Leia and a the Wookey! It is absolutely gigantic and I have nowhere to put it and its £274! I waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaant it! Sadly no-one has got this for me for Xmas as yet, I live in hope.

Aww. I hate to say this, but I got that car chassis set and the power pack to go with it one Christmas - we're not far off in age. I took a stab at assembling it, but the instructions were just too difficult to follow. I think the pieces ended up in my brother's Lego bin. I don't know if he ever put it together. The power pack got good use, though - we built all sorts of simpler vehicles for it.

I've just been working on a couple of Steampunk Death Stars (http://quercus.livejournal.com/344320.html#comments) (laser-cut) for Christmas gifts.

*spins Death Star on its very own lazy susan....*

Wheeeeeheheheeee!!!

*looks around*

Oh.

*hides*

::innocent:: :^)

(Actually, I got it last year for my son, who proudly keeps it safe on his dresser in his room on a lazy susan I found to keep it on. Only once have I had to horrify him by it: To dust it thoroughly, I took it outside to a secure chair, sprayed with with Pine Sol solution and gently rinsed it with the hose nozzle set on "shower", and then let it dry in the breeze. That was quite the nail-biter afternoon for him, despite all my caution! ;^) But it turned out gorgeously, not a piece out of place after the fact. [/protip])

Hope you can get a Death Star someday. About 4 Christmases ago, (the first Christmas it was available), I was able to get it for my son. He knew it was coming out early in the year, and it was his big wish (he was 11). So I saved all summer to get it as we stopped using credit cards. It was a joy to be able to get it for him. He was thrilled with it, and it's proudly displayed in his room. It's a wonderful Lego set!
