A&F's wood cock-up.

I guess the dog had enough sense to scoot. Boy, could this use a "racism" tag.

Actually, it depicts the era fairly well, "Great White Hunter" and all that. I'm offended by the killing of elephants as well, especially those that were "maddened" by the hunter himself, whose only recourse is to blow the elephant's brains out. Even today, the ivory trade continues, although thankfully, endangered species trophies mounted on walls seem to have passed from favor.

Yes. Lawdy, baas.

I wonder if A&F of that era would be intrigued at A&F of today, all tatty clothing and soft-core male porn in their shops.

Err, is the hunt's tag for hunting, or... the Hunt's company? The one that makes the ketchup?

Well played, sir (or madam)! )

So do I. We are at an impasse.

All I can think is "Buy our gun and you'll be Ernest goddamn Hemingway."

Avoiding the elephants altogether is also an excellent way to avoid being stepped on by them.

Hee. You read my mind! :)

[identity profile] cionaudha.livejournal.com 2011-11-20 07:18 am (UTC)(link)
Are you one of these abstinence people? The only safe elephant hunting is to not hunt elephants? :-p

I see that back in the day the design brief was "pretty much naked grown-ass porn-bait men of color" rather than today's "pretty much naked underage porn-bait boys".

Of course I suppose this reflects a change from the men being hunters to the boys being the hunted. *shudder*

A&F has given me the creeps for years, not gonna lie.

wtf? i had no idea Abercrombie ever actually sold sporting goods. i just sort of assumed they always sold clothes tailor-made for the stuck-up kids who taunted me in high school.

The abercrombie of now is not really related to the past abercrombie stores. They used to be a big sporting wear store, but went out of business sometime in the 70's. A different company bought the name and rebranded it to its current format.
