Pairs and weekend Event!

Here is a nice pairing of The Smashing Pumpkins and a poster for "A Trip to the Moon"

Attention community members: there's gonna be a few posts here like this in a row....i'm working with LJ support to try to get our embedding issues fixed....they opened a bug report for our embedding videos in the comments issue with lj developers and they wanted examples of what happens when we try to embed videos---because now it appears if you try to embed from non-youtube sites you can't embed.....so these are my example posts....if i back date 'em they'd still appear up top.....so apologies, but we're trying to figure this out! :D

for LJ support:

it's eating code!! i tried to test embed vids from a variety of sites in one entry and it ALL got eaten after the first example! so i'm gonna try in separate entries...

since it looks to me like the code changes a bit once it's posted i'm gonna post the embed code three times....1) i'm gonna change every < to a [ so you can VIEW the code as it is when it posted 2) leaving it alone so you can see how it 'embed' and then 3) doing what i did in #3 again with < to [ and showing how it changed after i hit post....since this video is what a member tried to post the other day, i'll stick with this one (for the record i love prince, but this song is meh)

Embed example #4 (last one, thanks for putting up with this y'all!)

Because it's harder than calling Annie Christian a whore finding a youtube video of prince's vids, (it's early and did i mention i'm a huge prince fan? since 1978, i's old too, leave this grandma alone) i had to include a youtube video though and this is one he can't get yanked off....his big passive aggressive fuck you to rolling stone for not listing him in the top guitar players and also a tribute to george harrison, who wanted a guitar solo in every song and he (prince) was inducted the same year into the rock hall and he didn't perform his songs.....wait, i'm just doing this for lj support...oh it's early...i love prince....i'm a gonna ramble....

ETA after posting obviously this one posted! the code is the same also, only added before and after it is [lj-embed id="5791"] (before the code) and after the code [/lj-embed]....so yeah, ONLY youtube embedding works....

embedding update and question for y'all....

okay, thanks for tolerating the embed examples this morning....if you want to read our support ticket---i call it OUR support ticket, as i did it for the community it's here....you can see that some sites were blocked from embedding as they have a whitelist....youtube obviously was on the whitelist from the getgo....they've added 2 of the sites i tested from today, but not from a 3rd.....they asked if we had any other sites we'd want to embed from that we had problems with.....

hence this post....

what are other video sites that you might some time want to snag a video from to embed in a post (embedding videos in comments in a totally different issue---and THAT problem has been sent to LJ developers to resolve)....

please post sites in the comments and i'll run tests---but will delete the posts after i see if they work or not :) then i can let support know and perhaps more can get added to their white list....

i'm gonna start off and say vimeo....liveleak? ....sound off in the comments and i'll do some testing tomorrow and let them know!
